recipes for self love #1: for the anxious hearts
some days i find myself trapped in a cycle of overthinking. and in my body there is this incessant feeling like I need to fix something, and I need to fix it now. have you ever noticed that even when you do “fix the thing” its pretty inevitable that this feeling will come back?
I grew up around a lot, a lot of chaos. uncertainty was embedded in to my daily routine, survival was a mechanism I learned incredibly young. there was so much peace, gentleness, and regulation that I missed out on instilling in myself at a young age. so a lot of my adulthood has felt like a journey of reparenting, a continuous reclaiming of everything that I did not receive.
and sometimes it can feel incredibly hard. I have made it through a number of seasons— seeing the other side of a chronic panic disorder, finding love again after heartbreak, watching everything work out exactly the way it should, every single time.
I have a whole lot of proof that I am safe, and a track record that states that everything always works out, every single time.
but some days I get lost, some days the feelings of anxiety, unrest, needing to fix something, come back. sometimes the mechanism of survival mode gets re-booted. so I wanted to share with you my favorite self love practice for bringing yourself back to homeostasis, and resetting your nervous system during moments of anxiety.
